Future merged Windows/Windows Phone kernel to be called “Windows OneCore”

Microsoft watcher WalkingCat has uncovered some references to the new merged OS we will expect to see in Windows Threshold.

According a job post on Microsoft Careers the “One Microsoft” OS will enable apps to work across phones, tablets, PCs, and the Xbox and will feature a XAML UI that will let developers code across all the devices.

An SDE Intern on LinkedIn writes that he was:

-Porting trademark Windows Phone features for use in any Windows operating environment through Windows OneCore

and a slide with a resume on Slideshare says:

Some speculate that OneCore is what used to be called MinWin, a minimal kernel for Windows that has now been renamed.

It seems pretty clear however we will soon see the next major evolution (and possibly disruption) of the Windows Phone OS is vaulted onto a common core with desktop, tablet and Xbox operating systems.
